Advocating for New Mexicans
Here is information I received from Senator Elect and Chair of the Democratic Caucus, Brenda McKenna. "In November 2020, the State Legislature met for a special session to take action for New Mexicans who need help. The Governor signed the CARES Act that allocates $330 million in federal funds for emergency COVID-19 relief. These are funds that are available to help small businesses and working families get through the pandemic.
Here are relevant links:
New Mexico Worker Pandemic Relief Benefit: payment of $1,200 through the Department of Workforce Solutions for eligible New Mexicans.
The CARES Cash Payment Request Form: the State is offering a one-time cash assistance of $750 payment to qualifying New Mexico residents. Requests must be completed by December 11.
COVID-19 Housing Cost Assistance Program: emergency housing relief from the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority for up to $1,500 a month for 3 months for households who need assistance with rent or mortgage payments.
It’s been a hard year for all of us. Some of our neighbors are hurting more than others. Wear a mask. Reach out and make sure your loved ones are okay and have the support they need. If you need more support, the New Mexico Crisis Line is available 24 hours a day - 1-800-NMCRISIS."
